IDEA ONE: National One-Health Hackathon

IDEA-ONE: Innovating for One Health is a national hackathon initiative designed to empower youth as advocates and change makers in health innovation. This multi-phase event invites students, researchers, and early-career professionals from diverse disciplines such as medicine, veterinary science, engineering, ecology, and policy to collaboratively develop solutions addressing pressing challenges like zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and climate-sensitive health risks. Participants will work in multidisciplinary teams to explore the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, aligned with India's National One Health Mission to contribute towards building a healthy and resilient future.

Hackathon Theme List

This hackathon welcomes all ideas related to One Health . Participants are encouraged to innovate freely and propose any solution addressing One Health challenges. The thematic areas below (points 1–12) are examples, given solely for conceptual guidance and are not exhaustive or restrictive.

7	Animal Health and Livestock Monitoring	• Animal health card system linked to vaccination and disease data using QR/NFC tags. • Prototype for wearable devices to monitor livestock vitals and alert in case of abnormal patterns.
8	Waste Management and Water Quality Monitoring	• Community-based digital solution to report biomedical and animal waste mismanagement. • Mobile-based test and reporting kit interface for water contamination in areas near abattoirs.
9	Rural and Tribal One Health Interventions	• Digital triage system for rural/tribal health workers to identify One Health-related symptoms in communities. • Decision support tool for frontline workers integrating AYUSH, allopathy, and veterinary protocols.
10	Cross-sectoral Emergency Preparedness Systems	• Real-time simulation tool for disaster drills integrating health, veterinary, and forest departments. • Mobile app for joint outbreak investigations and communication between CHCs, veterinary units, and local admin.
11	Biosafety & Biosecurity	• Real-time alerting system for biosafety breaches in laboratories handling zoonotic pathogens. • Learning module for biosafety levels and PPE use for multi-sectoral health workforce using AR/VR.
